Filipe Aragão


Filipe Aragão, a native of Brazil, began his dance training at the age of 17 studying Zouk, Samba and other Brazilian ballroom styles. He started his ballet training at Studio de Danca Luzia Aureliano. He was awarded a scholarship for the Men’s Program at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, where he attended summer intensives, and Ballet Academy East (BAE) in New York City. While attending BAE, under the direction of Darla Hoover, he danced works by George Balanchine, Claudia Schreier, Ashley Bouder, Alan Hineline and other renowned choreographers. In 2017, He joined Huntsville Ballet under the direction of Phillip Otto and Rachel Buttler, former dancers with Pacific Northwest Ballet. While at Huntsville Ballet, he danced soloist and principal roles in works by Phillip Otto. In 2018, Mr. Aragão began his first season at Utah Metropolitan Ballet (UMB) dancing corps and soloist roles in Jacqueline Colledge’s Nutcracker and Romeo and Juliet as well as works by Heather Gray, Alan Hineline and Brittnee Squires. During his first season at UMB he choreographed a work for UMB II which was performed at The Ballet Alliance Festival and was awarded a full scholarship for their Choreography Intensive. Filipe is excited to be in his second season with Utah Metropolitan Ballet.
